Lewis ties course record 63 to lead Evian Masters

Evian-les-Bains, France (26th July 2012) - Stacy Lewis of the United States was all smiles after shooting a course-record equalling nine under par 63 on Thursday to take a two stroke lead after the first round of the Evian Masters presented by Société Générale.

Playing in stifling heat, the 27-year-old from Texas reeled off seven birdies in a row from the fifth and picked up two closing birdies at the17th and 18th at Evian Masters Golf Course in Evian-les-Bains, France, to tie the course record set by Helen Alfredsson in the second round of the 2008 tournament, which the Swede went on to win.

Star-studded final field announced for Evian Masters presented by Société Générale

(19 July 2012) - Nine of the world’s top ten players, including the world No 1 Yani Tseng, will highlight the list of competitors heading to France next week for the Evian Masters presented by Société Générale.

The co-sanctioned event, which has been designated a major championship on the Ladies European Tour since 1998 and will officially become a major on the LPGA from 2013, returns to Evian Masters Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains for the 19th staging of the event on 26-29 July.

With a total purse of $3.25 million USD, or 2,496,170 euros, this is by far the biggest prize money event on the Ladies European Tour schedule and ties the US Women’s Open as the LPGA’s highest purse.

Masson magic wins South African Women’s Open

Germany’s Caroline Masson was remarkably composed on a brutal final day of the South African Women’s Open and went on to claim her maiden victory on the Ladies European Tour.

Masson closed with a bogey-free 70 to win on one-under-par 215, one stroke clear of South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace and England’s Danielle Montgomery.
“I’m so happy. It was such a tough day with the wind,” Masson said of a round which was in doubt because of the gale force winds that battered the Selborne Park Golf Club from the early morning.

Four share lead in windy SA Women’s Open

PENNINGTON, KwaZulu-Natal (14 July 2012) – A windy second round of the SA Women’s Open ended in a four-way tie for the lead and a host of others right in contention at Selborne Park Golf Club on Saturday.

Germany’s Caroline Masson overcame a bogey-bogey start and signed for a 75 to stay in the lead at level par.

But South Africa’s Ashleigh Simon joined her with a 72, and France’s Joanna Klatten and England’s Danielle Montgomery did the same with their respective rounds of 73 and 70.

Masson on the move in SA Women's Open

PENNINGTON, KwaZulu-Natal (13 July 2012) – Germany’s Caroline Masson moved a step closer to her maiden victory on the Ladies European Tour when she opened with a three-under-par 69 to lead the first round of the South African Women’s Open by two strokes on Friday.

Masson justified her status as the top-ranked player in the field and dropped only one shot on a tough day at Selborne Park Golf Club.

Stacy Bregman is the leading South African following a 71 that places her in a group alongside France’s Joanna Klatten and Julie Greciet, and Anais Maggetti of Switzerland.
