Robbertze Grateful For Support

Boost for SA Professional Women's Golf

13 April, 2011

Women’s Professional Golf in South Africa has recently received a much needed boost thanks to a handful of individuals and companies who have pledged their support for our very talented players!

One such player is Morgana Robbertze, who received a cheque for R25 096 from Cloud9Golf, raised at Robbertze’s golf day held at Jack Creek Golf Estate on the 4th April 2011. These funds will assist Robbertze with the means to continue to represent SA internationally on Tour and realise her dreams.

Having just landed that morning from a successful tournament in Morocco, an elated Robbertze was very grateful for the effort by all. “I am extremely thankful to Cloud9Golf and their team for giving up their time to arrange such a successful day, the hosts who came to the party, Jackal Creek and my sponsors Mizuno, Rudi’s Project, Subaru and the golfing public who played in the day. “

The golf day also spurted two new apparel sponsorships that have just been announced by SWAGG for both Robbertze and the talented Tandi Cuningham, who is also playing on the international circuit.

Sean Shomang, CEO of SWAGG, played in the golf day with Robbertze and commented: “Golf takes dedication, passion and commitment to master. The ladies who play professionally lack none of these qualities which makes them as good as the male professionals who play on tour. Our brand is about attitude and Morgana and Tandi display these in bucket loads. We are excited to sponsor them and hope this is the beginning of bringing focus back to the lady’s circuit. We will leverage the relationships we have to make this dream for these stars a reality.”

Cuningham was also excited about the support SWAGG is giving to woman's golf. “I look forward to being an ambassador of SWAGG’s brand and woman's professional golf. They have a very classic and chic product that I know I can wear confidently. The clothing also encapsulates a funky yet relaxed style which is nicely aligned to my personality.”

Shelley Galliver, editor of SA Woman Golfer is very upbeat about the support which has come at the right time, given that South African women’s professional golf has never been stronger than it is at the moment.

“We currently have seven players featuring on the Ladies European Tour, with Lee-Anne Pace having won the Order of Merit at the end of last year. It is just a pity that we don’t have more corporate investment into the ladies and into women’s golf on the local platform. There is an opportunity for a corporate willing to invest in women’s golf, to create massive brand awareness, not only in South Africa but globally.”

Cloud9Golf, together with SWAGG are looking forward to continuing their support for Woman’s Professional Golf in South Africa and helping our girls to achieve the very promising results that we all know they can, with a little help from us all.

Gina Read, owner of Cloud9Golf, requests the public and corporate South Africa to get involved.

The Mossel Bay golf course signature hole is the 17th hole, which is a par 5. At 494m and stroke 2, this can be challenging especially when playing into the sea breeze.
