Took up golf more seriously after completing a degree in Phsyical Education and Psychology at Rhodes University.

Gained Sprinbok colours, represented South Africa in 2 World Tournaments, and won "the double"- South African Strokeplay Championship and Matchplay Championship in the same year.

Won in England, and finished second on 3 other occasions during her first year on the European Tour. Ended the year 5th on the money list.

She was honoured by being nominated a finalist in the Fairlady South African Sporstswoman of the Year in 1982, standing beside Zola Budd and Billy Jean King who presented us with the awards.

In 1983 wanted to test her skills internationally and entered the British Amateur, but was banned from competing due to the political stance of our country.

Decided to turn Professional where she was free to compete as an Individual in most countries.

1984 was her first full European Tour season and after finishing 2nd in her fourth event went on to win the British Olivetti Tournament shooting 7 birdies in the first 10 holes on the way to  a record 7 under par for the round.

The total of 9 under par was also a WPGA scoring record. In the following weeks she finished 2nd in the Guernsey Open, 4th in the Jersey Open and 3rd in the German Open. This took Rae to an overall 5th place in the money list with 10,500 pounds!

Completed PGA training whilst on tour in the UK.

Is enjoying teaching as full-time Teaching Pro at Erinvale Golf Estate.

Golf Club of the Month

The Mossel Bay golf course signature hole is the 17th hole, which is a par 5. At 494m and stroke 2, this can be challenging especially when playing into the sea breeze.
